Top 10 Nail Polishes for Fall (with swatches)

HELLO!

Since we are getting closer and closer to fall, the most wonderful time of the year, I thought I'd share with you some of my favorite nail polishes for this time of the year.

Below, I have swatches of 10 nail polishes, as well as their names and brands, so you can find them easily.

For some odd reason I have been really into metallic nail polishes, but I also love some good old black or white nails. I think that the prettiest ones are the OPIs, they both have shimmer of different colors and it looks amazing.

What are your favorite nail polishes for the season?

Yay or Nay: Bell Bottoms

HELLO!

For today's Yay or Nay, I decided to talk about the newest old trade that is making a comeback this year, Bell Bottoms!

Bell Bottoms are great if you want to have Bohemian look, most of them have a higher waist and look great with flowy tops. For the girls that are shorter, like me, to make your legs look longer you can simply pair the pants with a really high heel, and the bottom should hit just above the ground, that way you look tall and with long legs. To create even longer legs, just tuck your top in your jeans, so it will give an illusion of a smaller torso.

I feel like this type jeans is great for every body type, I think it is very versatile, and it doesn't hurt to see some cute options that are out there. And I do think that if you pair them with a floppy hat, they would look super fabulous! ;)

Left to Right: Top Row - H&M Flare High Waist Jeans ($34.99), Article of Society Red Label 'Kick' Flare Jeans ($88), Target Mossimo High Rise Flare Jean ($29.99)
Bottom Row - H&M Flare Regular Jean, available in other colors ($29.99), Topshop MOTO Jamie Ripped Flare Jeans ($80), See by ChloƩ Patchwork Jeans ($315)

Above are just a few of the options that you can choose from a couple of stores. I personally loved the copper one from Article of Society Red Label and the detail on the lighter wash of the one from H&M is just perfect. I also fell in love with the way Topshop chose to make one that are a bit distressed. And the ChloƩ ones are just amazing, and very weird looking! XD

What do you think of Bell Bottoms?
Feel free to leave any suggestions for my next Yay or Nay post below! :)

HELLO!

Since fall is my favorite season of the year with all the beautiful color, delicious food, and the best fashion. I decided to do a series that I am going to feature things for you to prepare your closet for the best season of the year! XD

Today, I will be showing some cute boots from various stores that are under $100! I will have link to everything below the pictures, as well as the price.

Bottom row - Nola Western Boot ($39.99), Betsey Jolt W Boots in Black and Navy($44.99)

The next store is Forever 21, which you can also find some good deals for some cute booties. Left to Right: Cutout Heel Bootie ($34.90), Buckled Faux Suede Booties ($34.90), Faux Leather Ankle Booties ($39.90)
The next is Topshop, definitely in my top 5 favorite stores for anything and everything! :) The store is a bit on the pricier side, but these two styles of booties are just some of the infinite options that there are available at the store. The delicate buckle on the one on the top is the cutest, and I fell in love with the grey one.
Left to Right: Top row - Be Mine Heeled Ankle Boots in Brown and Black ($65.00)
Bottom row - Blanche Ankle Boots in Black and Grey ($85.00)
The last one, but most definitely not least is Zara. A store that I wish I had nearby, and when I had one close to me I'd go there almost everyday to check out what was new. How not to fall in love with any of these booties? C'mon! There is shiny, burgundy, navy blue, grey and black! I seriously one every one of them! XD

Travel Tuesday: New York City (Soho)

HELLO!

I thought that I would share with you my favorite places to go in NYC, specifically Manhattan since I am still exploring the rest of the Big Apple! :)

One of my favorite places in New York is Soho, I always make the same reference from Kinky Boots by saying (or singing) that it is "the most beautiful place in the world...". The area downtown is much less crowded than Midtown and has lots of shops and restaurants all around, and it is just a couple of minutes away from Chinatown.

My favorite places in Soho are LadurƩe on W Broadway, even though it is always crowded it is always nice to go into that little piece of Paris. You can either sit and dine at the restaurant, which I recommend to do at least once, or you can simply grab a yummy pastry to go.

Another place that is also really nice, and not too for away, is Housing Works on Crosby St. It is a bookstore (that was on Gossip Girl), with book wall to wall and it is also a coffee shop, so you can always sit down and relax. They always have great deals on books.

Not too far from Housing Works is Evolution on Spring St, which is the most amazing shop (at least to me)! The store sells all sorts of natural sciences/biology related things, like skulls, necklaces with anatomically correct hearts, vertebrae, posters, and a lot more. Even if you don't buy anything, it is definitely worth looking around.

Another place that is very interesting to shop is Bite on Prince St, apart from selling their usual products, you can also create your own lip color. If any of you are interested, tell me if you want me to dedicate a blog post on my experience there.

When you go down on Broadway in Soho, you will easily find all the stores that you need without having the insane amount of people like Midtown, there are stores such as Express, Forever 21, Zara, TopShop, Vince Camuto, Dune, and many more.

It is not too difficult to walk from Soho down to Chinatown, and if you go further down you will end up around the Financial District and The Battery. Soho is a great place to start exploring the south of NYC.

What are your favorite places to explore in New York?

Yay or Nay: Khaki

HELLO!

One of the trends this summer has been the color khaki, which one of my favorite colors (usually for fall) is included in: Army green, which I did not know it was considered khaki. At first I thought that it was a bit odd to have khaki as a summer color, even though I am very happy to know that I am being trendy with my army greens, so I thought I would include it in a Yay or Nay to see your opinion about the color during summer!

Here are a couple of pieces I found only that incorporated the trend:

Top row: Topshop sandals, skirt, and pants
Bottom row: Zara skirt, top, and sandals

I am in love with that skirt from Zara, I might buy it! XD
PS: All of the things from Zara are on sale right now, so rush there! :)

Overall, I think that the trend in a Yay, but I have to say that I would not wear the lighter tones, since it would look too much like my skin.

What about you? Do you think this is a yay or nay? Tell me in the comments below!
If you have any other suggestions for this series, make sure to tell me in the comments as well!

Yay or Nay: Floppy Hats

HELLO!

It is time for another Yay or Nay, and the topic is FLOPPY HATS!

Here are a couple of floppy hats...

Top row (left to right): Forever 21 Black Wool Floppy Hat, Forever 21 Straw Floppy Hat, Charming Charlie Barbados Striped Sun Hat.
Bottom row (left to right): Topshop Felt Floppy Hat,  Topshop Lattice Floppy Hat, American Apparel Royal Blue Wool Floppy Hat.
There are many, many options when it comes to floppy hats, and the great thing is that the wool ones are also great for fall! However, if you don't want to cover your head on wool in the hot summer, you can always wear the straw ones. And they're great to hide from the sun! :)

I will be honest that the answer for this post is a no brainer, and it is obviously a yay!

AAAAAND, FYI: The Charming Charlie hat is on sale for only 5 dollars, and it was 20 before! :O

Do you love floppy hats?

Makeup Monday: Favorite Eyeshadows (with swatches)

HELLO!

For this week's Makeup Monday, I decided I would share some of my favorite eyeshadows! :)

I thought I would split up the shadows in three categories: lid, crease, and eyeliner, which are all pretty self-explanatory! I have also swatched all of the shadows. :)

Lid

The first swatch on my arm is a TopShop eyeshadow that is the pretties light gold, and it is a nice change if you usually use champagne colors on your lid!
The second color on my arm is MAC's vanilla, and it is the one that I wear the most. It is super silky and has very little shimmer.
The third color is a light pink matte shadow from NYX. I like how it is just pink enough to look good as a lid color, instead of making your eye look irritated.
The fourth color is for when I am feeling like having a frosty finish to my lid color. This shadow is also great for highlighting the inner corner. (and it is around 1 dollar!)
The last color is another one by ELF and it is the prettiest frosty lilac shadow that I own! I love purple and it is another great change from the usual lid colors.

PS: if you feel like you look better in warmer tones, wear the gold lid color to change it up, but if you prefer cool tones, then wear the lilac! :)

Crease

My crease colors change very slightly, as you can see I like brown!

The first shadow is another MAC one that I love. It is silky, matte and a very warm tone of brown.
The second color is lighter brown from NYX. If blended very well, it can look very natural and looks great with a winged liner and red lips! This is definitely my most worn shadow.
The last two ones are something that I don't wear all the time, but that I like a lot. Driftwood is a very pretty brown with golden shimmer, and Purple is a great purple, whenever you want to change things up!

Liner

These are my favorite colors for using as an eyeliner. I usually first line my eyes with a white pencil, and then put these on top so they can stick to something and not transfer to my crease.
The first one is the prettiest teal! It has just enough shimmer, and it looks amazing as an eyeliner!
The second is from The Vice pallet from urban decay, which is my favorite pallet!
Both of the colors are very pigmented, which is great for using as an eyeliner so there isn't too much product!

Here is a picture of me wearing the Teal as an eyeliner!

What are your favorite eyeshadows? I'd love to try them out!

Yay or Nay: Mom Jeans

HELLO!

A trend that has been around fairly recently is Mom Jeans. They are jeans that are high waisted, usually cropped and not too tight, kind of like the boyfriend jeans fit (they look very 90s in my humble opinion), and a couple of brands are even calling it "mom jeans".

Here are a couple of Mom Jeans:

All from Forever 21 (left to right): Mom Fit Jeans, Acid Wash Mom Jeans, Classic Mom Jeans

All from Topshop (Left to right): MOTO Vintage Mom Jeans, MOTO Black Mom Jeans, MOTO Ice Ripped Mom Jeans
I am a bit on the fence about this trend, I like this type of jeans for other people, but I don't think I would pull it off. I did love the Forever 21 Acid Wash but maybe if it were a skinny jean I would like it even more. I feel like even on the models, they don't always look great. I have a feeling that they are difficult to easily wear with anything and you have to be very careful with your silhouette when wearing these. I also think that the fact that they are cropped will not necessarily be cropped when you have long legs like me (im4'11'' cough cough), but it is nice that TopShop has the Petite and the Tall lines, so that more people can wear these jeans.

Overall, for me, this is a nay. It is a cool trend that is very 90s, but I don't think I will be wearing them any time soon.

What do you think of the Mom Jeans?
How would you style them?

Yay or Nay: Cut Out Boots

HELLO!

Lately I've seen cut out boots being sold all over the place and I thought it was a bit odd. I did some research (which is going in online stores and fashion websites) and saw that cut out boots are actually a trend for spring/summer.

I do love cut out boots, they have been around for a little bit but I never actually got one just because I never found the perfect one, but after seeing that this is a trend for spring I don't see myself wearing them. I always have awful experience with the warmer times of the year, since I hate hot weather and get easily burned (whitepeopleproblems). Wearing boots are not a possibility for me. :s

This is the first nay in the story of this post series! (are you surprised? I am!) I'd definitely yay cut out boots in the fall/winter, though. :)

What do you think about cut out boots in the spring/summer? Is it a yay or a nay?

Yay or Nay: Monochrome

outfits from Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta and Michael Kors.

Hello!

It is time for another "yay or nay"! Today it is all about trendy monochrome. Which I am completely in love with! Last year we had lots of pastel colors, but now they have been replaced by the chic and classic combination of black and white.

I have been seeing a lot of stripes, polka dots, houndstooth and many other different patterns in the classic colors. Here are a couple of pieces that I thought were pretty from topshop and could easily be added to anyone's wardrobe! They are cute and could still be used even when the trend is over. That is what I always do, I try to first buy things that are trendy but I can definitely still wear them after the trend is gone! :)

Another thing that has been very popular is the use of neon lime green in some of the combinations, which I particularly like and it is always good to add a little pop of color in your outfit, and lime green looks absolutely beautiful! Here are two outfits that I saw from Zara's website, I think that they are gorgeous!

You can obviously wear something that you like and add something from the trend. That is what I always do! Make it your own, that is all that matters! :)

So, what did you guys think? Is it a Yay or a Nay? Tell me in the comments and also tell me other things that you would like to see in the Yay or Nay series!

Love,
 Mariana

Today's outfit: Ombre Geek

Hello!

Today I thought I'd share with you the outfit that I wore yesterday. :)

I was in desperate need to use my ombre pants, for no reason at all. So, I decided to pair it with my GEEK t-shirt from topshop, my black faux leather jacket from H&M and my studded sneakers from Zara. For the accessories I chose a small white bag from H&M, my Zara sunglasses (since it was a little bit sunny), a cheetah wirey headband that I wrapped around my ponytail from Lindex, a pretty bracelet also from Lindex and my pink ombre ring from Topshop!

For my makeup I kept it simple just some neutral eyeshadows, winged liner and my coral lipstick in 13 by Rimmel London.

Hope you liked it! Leave it in the comments telling me if your excited for spring to come! :)
 Love,
 Mariana

Hauller!

Hello!

Today I thought I'd share with you some of the things that I bought a week or so ago!
Let's get started!
So, let's star with my brand new fierce rings!

Loved this ring from and it was super cheap, only 10 dkk! #bargain
It is pretty cool, it has kind of an ombre effect. And the shape is pretty! *-*

Now, this one is definitely my favorite! It is a ring with gold and white spikes. It is pretty big on my tiny hands, but still it is beautiful! And it was also 10 dkk at topshop! :)

Now, let's get to the beauty part of this thing! :)

I have been looking for a moisturizer because mine is not really working anymore. So, a couple of days I just had click and decided that I had to buy one right away. So I just went to Magasin (a big department store in Denmark) and chose one that smelled good and seemed to work.
It is from the brand Clean Scene and it basically balances the skin making it healthier! And the best part is that they don't test on animals! :)

I have recently seen that there was a new beauty store at one of the malls close to my house and yesterday I thought I'd look into it.
The brand is CoolCos and it is danish. And for the people that are allergic to perfume or just don't like the smell of make up, it has no perfume at all! It is a lot cheaper than any other lower-end make up, here in Denmark.
So here's what I bought from there!

I saw they had some brushes and I thought I would try out their blending brush, since I was in desperate need of one. And it is impressingly soft and this morning I used and it seemed pretty good.

I have been wanting a cream blush for a while, but never really bought any. So I thought I should try theirs, so I bought this pretty pink and so far so good, I like it a lot! The shade is 02 and I believe it was less than 80 dkk, usually a rimmel london blush is around 80 or a maybelline one, and this packaging is pretty big.

And finally, last but most certainly not least...
My brand new lipstick form the Kate Moss collection from Rimmel london. I am in love with it!
It is a bright corally orange color that will be amazing for summer! :)

So, yeah that is it! Hope you all liked it and make sure to tell me in the comments what is your favorite makeup item! :)

Love,
 Mariana
