Nails of the Week: Yellow and Pink

HELLO!

This week's nails is one of my favorite color combinations, yellow and pink! I decided to do some a little bit different, and do an accent nail. Granted that the accent nail is not very different from the others, but it is great if you want to have an accent nail but is too scared to have it in another color or completely different from the other nails. :)

These nails are super easy, and all you need is to make a straight line on top of the base nail polish! :)
I love the color combination! It's super bright and great for summer.

Here are the nail polishes I used: Colorama in Rosa Pink (which I think you can find this brand at Ricky's NYC), but any pink polish will do, this one just happened to be the most dense one that I had. And Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear in Mellow Yellow! :)

What do you have on your nails this week?

Yay or Nay: Floppy Hats

HELLO!

It is time for another Yay or Nay, and the topic is FLOPPY HATS!

Here are a couple of floppy hats...

Top row (left to right): Forever 21 Black Wool Floppy Hat, Forever 21 Straw Floppy Hat, Charming Charlie Barbados Striped Sun Hat.
Bottom row (left to right): Topshop Felt Floppy Hat,  Topshop Lattice Floppy Hat, American Apparel Royal Blue Wool Floppy Hat.
There are many, many options when it comes to floppy hats, and the great thing is that the wool ones are also great for fall! However, if you don't want to cover your head on wool in the hot summer, you can always wear the straw ones. And they're great to hide from the sun! :)

I will be honest that the answer for this post is a no brainer, and it is obviously a yay!

AAAAAND, FYI: The Charming Charlie hat is on sale for only 5 dollars, and it was 20 before! :O

Do you love floppy hats?

Nails of the Week: Purple&Mint

HELLO!

I know I have been M.I.A. lately, and I am terribly sorry!
Today, I wanted to share my nails for this week! :)

I just did something simple for this week, and with my favorite color combination: purple and green! :)

Even though it looks pink in the bottle, the L.A. Girl's nail polish is more of a purple color, and it is called Lazer Beam from the Brites collections. The mint green nail polish is by Kiko in the color 389 (I think). Both of the polishes have amazing formulas, but the Kiko one is my favorite! It is super think and you can easily just put one coat and be good to go!

What are you wearing on your nails this week?

Makeup Monday: Favorite Eyeshadows (with swatches)

HELLO!

For this week's Makeup Monday, I decided I would share some of my favorite eyeshadows! :)

I thought I would split up the shadows in three categories: lid, crease, and eyeliner, which are all pretty self-explanatory! I have also swatched all of the shadows. :)

Lid

The first swatch on my arm is a TopShop eyeshadow that is the pretties light gold, and it is a nice change if you usually use champagne colors on your lid!
The second color on my arm is MAC's vanilla, and it is the one that I wear the most. It is super silky and has very little shimmer.
The third color is a light pink matte shadow from NYX. I like how it is just pink enough to look good as a lid color, instead of making your eye look irritated.
The fourth color is for when I am feeling like having a frosty finish to my lid color. This shadow is also great for highlighting the inner corner. (and it is around 1 dollar!)
The last color is another one by ELF and it is the prettiest frosty lilac shadow that I own! I love purple and it is another great change from the usual lid colors.

PS: if you feel like you look better in warmer tones, wear the gold lid color to change it up, but if you prefer cool tones, then wear the lilac! :)

Crease

My crease colors change very slightly, as you can see I like brown!

The first shadow is another MAC one that I love. It is silky, matte and a very warm tone of brown.
The second color is lighter brown from NYX. If blended very well, it can look very natural and looks great with a winged liner and red lips! This is definitely my most worn shadow.
The last two ones are something that I don't wear all the time, but that I like a lot. Driftwood is a very pretty brown with golden shimmer, and Purple is a great purple, whenever you want to change things up!

Liner

These are my favorite colors for using as an eyeliner. I usually first line my eyes with a white pencil, and then put these on top so they can stick to something and not transfer to my crease.
The first one is the prettiest teal! It has just enough shimmer, and it looks amazing as an eyeliner!
The second is from The Vice pallet from urban decay, which is my favorite pallet!
Both of the colors are very pigmented, which is great for using as an eyeliner so there isn't too much product!

Here is a picture of me wearing the Teal as an eyeliner!

What are your favorite eyeshadows? I'd love to try them out!

Yay or Nay: Colorful Winged Liner

HELLO!

In my everyday makeup look, I always wear liquid eyeliner and I love to mix up my makeup with different colors! So, the trend of colorful liquid liners is obviously wonderful for me. :D

There are a couple of brands that have liquid eyeliners in different colors. I've tried Kat Von D's, and it seems to hold up pretty well. Another brand that is talked about a lot is Limecrime. NYX also has some great colors, if you don't want to spend 20 dollars.

Here are the Kat Vond Ink Liners! They are amazing colors, I am in love! I am planning on buying Neruda (white), and Nietzsche (baby blue). If you struggle to apply liquid liner, this applicator is the best, the pen gives you a lot more control over the line. You can find them here.

I would love to try the Limecrime eyeliners! Especially the Blue Milk (vibrant baby blue), and the Orchidaceous (violet). I like how the colors are very bright, but the applicator is one of the little tiny liquid brushes, which I don't have trouble with but some people might. You can find them here.

Here are just some of the NYX colorful liquid liners. I have the Extreme Blue, the formula is really good especially for being so cheap, however some of them seem to be a little bit metallic. You can find them here.

You can go full on glitter rainbow, like Glam&Gore. (click here for her tutorial)

So, as you can probably tell by now, the answer is YAY! I love colorful makeup, and the colorful liners make me super happy! :D

How about you? Is this a yay or a nay for you?

Where All The Magic Happens...

HELLO!

Over 2 years ago, I shared on this blog my set up for blogging! A lot has changed over these two years. So I thought I would share my set up, again, and share my process of making it look less bare then it is right now!

Here it is:

The walls are pretty bare, and I definitely want to do some sort of DIY to make it look better.
I mainly use my iMac for blogging and watching random youtube videos, or tv shows, and I use my PC mainly for gaming. My pc is called Eric, and my iMac is Christine (YES, it is because of phantom of the opera)!
My desk and lights are Ikea, the chair is from Staples.

On the gaming side of my desk, I have my lil monkey (actually a bookmark from Denmark), and my Marshall headphones.

On my blogging side I have a little iPhone notepad, the nail polish that I used for a post, some water, and my iPhone.

In the middle of the desk I have a pencil sharpener, two candles, a little luggage box that I painted myself, as well as the tray that I just put random stuff in it. I also have a little macaron that I got from Target, and in the back I have my dry erase calendar for the blog, that way I know what I am writing in the following weeks.

As I start buying things for the space, I will be sharing here on Couture Macaroon, so make sure to like CM's FB page!

What suggestions do you have for me to put on my wall?
What is on your desk?

Makeup Monday: Lipstick vs Lipgloss

HELLO!

Today, I wanted to discuss about something that is very important (not really)! In a battle to the death, who would win: Lipstick or Lipgloss? Actually, I'm just wanting to discuss which one I would rather use!

I'm sure that everyone has had their phases, mostly when they were just starting to get into makeup, that lipgloss was your go-to lip product! I loved lipgloss so much that I would use it as eyeshadow, I have no idea why I thought that was a great idea (who wouldn't want to have oily looking eyelids? c'mon! #trendsetter). After getting a bit better at makeup, which didn't necessarily mean that my skills were better, it meant that I started to wear a smokey eye to school (no other makeup, except black shadow! #racoon)!
As the years went by lipgloss followed me to its actual usual place, but I would have to say that lipgloss, right now, is not my favorite anymore! It all started when I moved to Denmark, and it was super windy, and my long hair would get all stuck on my lips because of the goo I had on my lips. So, I started to wear lipsticks! At first, I would wear nude lipsticks (way too much), but then I started getting more into the brighter colors, and now I'm at the point where bold lips are my day-to-day makeup! What I like about lipsticks is how practical they are, the stickiness of lipgloss just drives me insane! I have no idea how I lived with lipgloss through so many years (#thestruggle)!

What do you prefer: lipstick or lipgloss?

Check out my favorite lipsticks for the summer!

Yay or Nay: Mom Jeans

HELLO!

A trend that has been around fairly recently is Mom Jeans. They are jeans that are high waisted, usually cropped and not too tight, kind of like the boyfriend jeans fit (they look very 90s in my humble opinion), and a couple of brands are even calling it "mom jeans".

Here are a couple of Mom Jeans:

All from Forever 21 (left to right): Mom Fit Jeans, Acid Wash Mom Jeans, Classic Mom Jeans

All from Topshop (Left to right): MOTO Vintage Mom Jeans, MOTO Black Mom Jeans, MOTO Ice Ripped Mom Jeans
I am a bit on the fence about this trend, I like this type of jeans for other people, but I don't think I would pull it off. I did love the Forever 21 Acid Wash but maybe if it were a skinny jean I would like it even more. I feel like even on the models, they don't always look great. I have a feeling that they are difficult to easily wear with anything and you have to be very careful with your silhouette when wearing these. I also think that the fact that they are cropped will not necessarily be cropped when you have long legs like me (im4'11'' cough cough), but it is nice that TopShop has the Petite and the Tall lines, so that more people can wear these jeans.

Overall, for me, this is a nay. It is a cool trend that is very 90s, but I don't think I will be wearing them any time soon.

What do you think of the Mom Jeans?
How would you style them?

I Tried...

HELLO!

So, I was planning to do a post about my favorite bags for the summer, buuuuuut... my camera was not having it the day I was trying to shoot pictures! And since I usually write my posts the day before it goes live, today I have nothing for you! :(

So I decided I'd post something silly that I did and uploaded to Youtube!
Back when I loved Hannah Montana, I uploaded a video of me singing The Climb. I then uploaded a video of me singing The Climb now to see how much I've changed over these 6 years (the video was from 2009, when life was all rainbows and unicorns, and I didn't know I would be where I am today!)

This is the video from 2009, when I thought I was cool and had my white MacBook! I also thought I was super amazing at garage band!

The present: The technology didn't necessarily improve, but I tried! lol

What is something that you loved back in the day, that you don't like anymore?

How My Broadway Obsession Began

HELLO!

So today, I bring to you another "Hidden Obsession" post! Granted that it isn't one of my most secret obsessions, since I have briefly talked about it here on CM. I will share how my obsession with Broadway/Musical theatre started! :)

I had always been in love with musicals (yes, I was a High School Musical fan! And YES I watched HSM3 in the movies and on the day it premiered! And I was not 10 years old!), I have always been a very musical person since I was little. I could not live without music playing every single second, and every single musical tv show or movie that was on TV, I would watch! I obviously obsessed over Glee for a couple of years, and fell in love with songs like On My Own, I Dreamed A Dream, etc. Weirdly enough, what made me look for actual cast recordings, was New Girl (my other obsession that does not die), in one episode one of the characters sang Wicked!

After listening to the whole Wicked soundtrack on the Youtubs, I decided to look into live performances thinking that they would sound like many singers (not great), and I realized that the live performances were 100 times better than the cast recordings. I then realized that Glinda was played by Kristin Chenoweth (I had already fallen in love with her in Glee), and I bought the cast recording's CD. I would listen to Wicked non-stop and working on that Elphaba belting on my way to college. :)

For thanksgiving, my mom and I decided to spend a few days in New York to just relax in a nice hotel and go see a broadway show on the last day. We decided to go see Les Miserables, on a matinee. As soon as the whole thing started I was amazed at how beautiful everything was, at how amazing the voices sounded, the whole barricade, it was breath taking (I literally cried throughout the whole thing, and it wasn't because the story was emotional, now I'm used to the crying! It means their doing it right)! From that point on, I knew that I had to try to do something like that to see if I would like to do for the rest of my life, or not!

I then watched Phantom of The Opera, and it was Norm Lewis' last matinee (that one, I was balling my eyes out! Again, they were doing it right!). After that, came On The Town, which is now my favorite type of musical, I loved the comedy, singing and dancing. And then, I saw Anything Goes on tour.

Here's my little memory board, that I keep in my room

I DYI'd this little "chalk" board, which I have no idea if the writing is erasable. On the top row, I have the two CDs that I have signed by Alysha Umphress, and the other by Laura Osnes. I then have Playbills from Les Miz, Phantom and On The Town. On the bottom row, I have the little program from the show I was in, one that I did sound for, the Anything Goes Tour, and an old birthday card, a photo booth pic I took with my friend in Urban Outfitters and a random picture of the guys in Merlin.

What is your obsession?

Monthly Favorites: May

HELLO!

May is already over and all of the Jazzy songs that Alysha Umphress sings about may are in the past! :( This month passed by super fast and was great to stress out about finals and then relax.
So, here is what I loved this month:

From top to bottom: French Kiss Lipstick, Extreme Blue Liner, and XOXO Lipstick, all by NYX Cosmetics
My favorites for makeup have definitely been the NYX Jumbo Pencil Lipsticks, mainly the XOXO and French Kiss. I am also in love with my NYX blue liner, in Extreme Blue, which is a beautiful royal blue liquid liner!

For music, I have been addicted to the Kinky Boot Soundtrack, especially the first song and the "History of Wrong Guys". For regular music, I have been in love with "You Smell So Good", "Mayday! M'aider!", and "You Are Never Away/Ten Minutes Ago", from Alysha Umphress and Jeff Blumenkrantz's album "I've Been Played". I have also been weirdly obsessed (again) with Sara Bareilles! :)
My favorite show this month was definitely iZombie. I love how cheesy it is with all the comic book theme and how it has a little bit of a theme song. And it doesn't hurt to look at Bradley James' (who'll forever be King Arthur to me) beautiful face! ;) I've also been binge watching Inside Amy Schumer, I just love her humour so much!
My favorite movie this month was Kinky Boots, which I watched on Amazon Prime for the first time and it was really good! :)

My favorite Youtubers that I subscribed this month were MannyMUA, Glam&Gore, Meghan Rienks and Patrick Starrr. My all time favorite was definitely Glam&Gore, she does amazing special effects makeup, and that is my favorite kind of make up! :)

The apps that I've downloaded recently and have been using this month are: SimCity and Pinterest!
SimCity is always fun for some good old relaxing and taking care of your whole city, and Pinterest is good for inspiration.
The Video Game that I have been addicted to this month was Kitty Powers' Matchmaker, which is a super cute game and very time consuming! Perfect for when you have nothing to do, or are just procrastinating! :)

My favorite moment/thing that happened this month was definitely meeting Laura Osnes, after all she is one of my favorite broadway actresses! :)

What were you're favorites of the month?
