Travel Tuesday: New York City (Soho)

HELLO!

I thought that I would share with you my favorite places to go in NYC, specifically Manhattan since I am still exploring the rest of the Big Apple! :)

One of my favorite places in New York is Soho, I always make the same reference from Kinky Boots by saying (or singing) that it is "the most beautiful place in the world...". The area downtown is much less crowded than Midtown and has lots of shops and restaurants all around, and it is just a couple of minutes away from Chinatown.

My favorite places in Soho are Ladurée on W Broadway, even though it is always crowded it is always nice to go into that little piece of Paris. You can either sit and dine at the restaurant, which I recommend to do at least once, or you can simply grab a yummy pastry to go.

Another place that is also really nice, and not too for away, is Housing Works on Crosby St. It is a bookstore (that was on Gossip Girl), with book wall to wall and it is also a coffee shop, so you can always sit down and relax. They always have great deals on books.

Not too far from Housing Works is Evolution on Spring St, which is the most amazing shop (at least to me)! The store sells all sorts of natural sciences/biology related things, like skulls, necklaces with anatomically correct hearts, vertebrae, posters, and a lot more. Even if you don't buy anything, it is definitely worth looking around.

Another place that is very interesting to shop is Bite on Prince St, apart from selling their usual products, you can also create your own lip color. If any of you are interested, tell me if you want me to dedicate a blog post on my experience there.

When you go down on Broadway in Soho, you will easily find all the stores that you need without having the insane amount of people like Midtown, there are stores such as Express, Forever 21, Zara, TopShop, Vince Camuto, Dune, and many more.

It is not too difficult to walk from Soho down to Chinatown, and if you go further down you will end up around the Financial District and The Battery. Soho is a great place to start exploring the south of NYC.

Travelling...

HELLO!

In case you didn't know, I love to travel and explore cool places. So I decided I would do the travel tag! :)

I was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, but I am living in the U.S. at the moment!

Yes, in 2011 (I think), I moved to Denmark and lived there for 2 years. In that period of time, I went to Sweden, France, Spain, Holland, and Germany

3. Do you prefer summer or winter? Why?

Wiiiiiinter! I like the cold weather, hot weather is my number enemy in life! However, I did like the Danish summer, since it wouldn't even get close to 30 degrees!

4. Summer or winter fashion?

Winter! I love dark colors, wearing tights!

5. Where is somewhere you would love to travel to?
Italy, or Japan!

Not really

8. Do you like/dislike travelling?

British! :)

12. How many countries have you visited?

14. Favourite city or country?

A Day in New York

HELLO!

As you've seen from yesterday's post, I went to NYC on memorial day. I mainly went there just to explore a bit, take some cool pictures, and go to Shmakary's for the Broadway Bakes, and get to see Laura Osnes! :)

I took the best way to go to NYC, in my opinion, which is taking the Staten Island Ferry that calls for amazing pictures and a super pretty view! You hop off the Ferry and you are by Battery (I was obviously singing: THE BRONX IS UP BUT THE BATTERY DOWN! #onthetownreference). Soho, which is my favorite area of NYC, isn't too far of a walk from where I was so I walked around there a bit, and went to my favorite store: Topshop! :)

After walking around Soho a bit, I took the subway to the Columbus Circle to have a late lunch at my favorite bakery, called Francois Payard Bakery. They have really good macarons, and my favorite sandwich type of thing that I had at Euro Disney. :) After relaxing a bit in FBP, I walked toward Times Square, which isn't a long walk either (completely forgot to through Central Park for pictures  D: ).

And lastly, the thing that I had been waiting for the whole the day was about to happen! I would meet one of my favorite broadway actresses over at Schmakery's, which is like a bakery that specializes on cookies (which are amazing! Definitely a great to go when in NYC for the first time!). The bakery is having Broadway stars sell their cookies from the 25th to the 29th of May, for Broadway Bakes (Here's info of the schedules if you are close to NYC).

At Schamakery's I got a Schmores cookie, that was wonderful, but I was too tired already to take a picture of it (trust me, it was amazing!). Laura Osnes and Corey Cott were selling the cookies, and they were super sweet, singing happy birthday (which Laura sang an octave higher and I melted inside #musicaltheatrefreak) for the girls who were having their birthdays and taking selfies. I also bought Laura's cd, which she signed and all of the money went straight to Broadway Cares.

I then went back home, just as happy I always am after seeing a musical, and took pictures the way back to Staten Island, which the sun helped a lot! :)

What did you do on Memorial Day?

Travelling: Favorite brushes

HELLO!

Today I will be showing you what make up brushes I usually bring whenever I am travelling! :)

The first ones up are face brushes, my favorite ones. The softest and biggest!

I usually bring both my sigma Flat top kabuki (F80), which I use for foundation, and my angled contour brush (F40), for powder blush and bronzer. I also brought my Real Techniques expert face brush for cream blush and, sometimes I use it to blend my concealer a bit. And my concealer brush is by Sephora.

Now, blending brushes...

I bring three blending brushes, which are my holy grill. I have my coolcos big brush, that I use to blend everything and to apply highlight. And I also bring two sigma blending brushes, E40 and E25. I use E40 to blend smaller areas that the coolcos one is too big to reach and the E25 I use to apply color to my crease.

Other brushes...

I usually bring these three brushes, just in case I need them. E30 is perfect to apply color under the eye, E60 is my go-to if I need to quickly apply color to my lid and the E55 is perfect for that black on the outer corner of the eye.

And I could never forget the angled brushes...

I bring two NYX angled brushes, most of the times. I use one for eyeshadow and the other to apply my gel liner.

What are your favorite brushes to use?

Madrid Yumminess...

HELLO! Right now I am probably on my way back to Denmark...

It is time to talk about food in Madrid, and I will be sharing with you some of the things I will definitely be trying.

Paella

Made with seafood and yumminess, that everyone knows about.

Tortilla de Patata

It is well-known and I definitely want to try it! It is made of eggs and potatoes, basically like an omelet. And has its variations…

Tapas

The yummy finger food, I simply love their Jamón Serrano! YUUUUUM!

Churros con Chocolate

They don't have to be with chocolate, I will accept one in any way! :)

What dish would you like to try?

What's In My Bag: Airplane/Madrid edition

HELLO! Happy friday, you're probably happy that the weekend is coming, and I am not because I will have to go home on saturday! :(

Today I will be sharing with you what I am bringing with me to the airplane and Madrid in my bag!

My bag is from Zara, with studs on the side! Love it!

I am not bringing that many things. Just two sunglasses and my normal glasses, bobby pins, my wallet, EOS lip balm, Twist gum, H&M umbrella and hand cream.
Of course, I am bringing my phone and earphones, but that is not very exciting!

What do you bring in your carry on bags?

Madrid week: Places I'd like to go.

HELLO!

Today's post will be all about the places that I want to visit in Madrid...

Museo de La Reina Sofia

One of the places that I definitely would like to go is the Reina Sofia museum. I wouldn't say it is because I am obsessed with art, but because it is where Picasso's painting: Guernica, is located.
I don't really know why, but I have always liked his work and just the thought of seeing that huge painting with my own eyes, gives me goosebumps.
Plus the name of the museum is pretty awesome!
Guernica by Pablo Picasso

Gran Via

Another place that I will be definitely going is Gran Via, since it has shops and it seems to be a pretty busy street. Which makes me think of my home town! :)
And there is also the fact that our hotel is pretty close and there are so many Starbucks in that area, that it is not even funny.
 Edificio Metrópolis

There is also the Metropolis building, which is located in Gran Via. I know it is not that amazing to look at a building that is owned by an insurance company, but I thought that it was a pretty building!

Muralla Arabe

Another one that seems pretty interesting is the Arabic Wall, just the sound of it makes me want to go see it! And it is super pretty! :)
