How My Broadway Obsession Began

HELLO!

So today, I bring to you another "Hidden Obsession" post! Granted that it isn't one of my most secret obsessions, since I have briefly talked about it here on CM. I will share how my obsession with Broadway/Musical theatre started! :)

I had always been in love with musicals (yes, I was a High School Musical fan! And YES I watched HSM3 in the movies and on the day it premiered! And I was not 10 years old!), I have always been a very musical person since I was little. I could not live without music playing every single second, and every single musical tv show or movie that was on TV, I would watch! I obviously obsessed over Glee for a couple of years, and fell in love with songs like On My Own, I Dreamed A Dream, etc. Weirdly enough, what made me look for actual cast recordings, was New Girl (my other obsession that does not die), in one episode one of the characters sang Wicked!

After listening to the whole Wicked soundtrack on the Youtubs, I decided to look into live performances thinking that they would sound like many singers (not great), and I realized that the live performances were 100 times better than the cast recordings. I then realized that Glinda was played by Kristin Chenoweth (I had already fallen in love with her in Glee), and I bought the cast recording's CD. I would listen to Wicked non-stop and working on that Elphaba belting on my way to college. :)

For thanksgiving, my mom and I decided to spend a few days in New York to just relax in a nice hotel and go see a broadway show on the last day. We decided to go see Les Miserables, on a matinee. As soon as the whole thing started I was amazed at how beautiful everything was, at how amazing the voices sounded, the whole barricade, it was breath taking (I literally cried throughout the whole thing, and it wasn't because the story was emotional, now I'm used to the crying! It means their doing it right)! From that point on, I knew that I had to try to do something like that to see if I would like to do for the rest of my life, or not!

I then watched Phantom of The Opera, and it was Norm Lewis' last matinee (that one, I was balling my eyes out! Again, they were doing it right!). After that, came On The Town, which is now my favorite type of musical, I loved the comedy, singing and dancing. And then, I saw Anything Goes on tour.

Here's my little memory board, that I keep in my room

I DYI'd this little "chalk" board, which I have no idea if the writing is erasable. On the top row, I have the two CDs that I have signed by Alysha Umphress, and the other by Laura Osnes. I then have Playbills from Les Miz, Phantom and On The Town. On the bottom row, I have the little program from the show I was in, one that I did sound for, the Anything Goes Tour, and an old birthday card, a photo booth pic I took with my friend in Urban Outfitters and a random picture of the guys in Merlin.

What is your obsession?

Monthly Favorites: May

HELLO!

May is already over and all of the Jazzy songs that Alysha Umphress sings about may are in the past! :( This month passed by super fast and was great to stress out about finals and then relax.
So, here is what I loved this month:

From top to bottom: French Kiss Lipstick, Extreme Blue Liner, and XOXO Lipstick, all by NYX Cosmetics
My favorites for makeup have definitely been the NYX Jumbo Pencil Lipsticks, mainly the XOXO and French Kiss. I am also in love with my NYX blue liner, in Extreme Blue, which is a beautiful royal blue liquid liner!

For music, I have been addicted to the Kinky Boot Soundtrack, especially the first song and the "History of Wrong Guys". For regular music, I have been in love with "You Smell So Good", "Mayday! M'aider!", and "You Are Never Away/Ten Minutes Ago", from Alysha Umphress and Jeff Blumenkrantz's album "I've Been Played". I have also been weirdly obsessed (again) with Sara Bareilles! :)
My favorite show this month was definitely iZombie. I love how cheesy it is with all the comic book theme and how it has a little bit of a theme song. And it doesn't hurt to look at Bradley James' (who'll forever be King Arthur to me) beautiful face! ;) I've also been binge watching Inside Amy Schumer, I just love her humour so much!
My favorite movie this month was Kinky Boots, which I watched on Amazon Prime for the first time and it was really good! :)

My favorite Youtubers that I subscribed this month were MannyMUA, Glam&Gore, Meghan Rienks and Patrick Starrr. My all time favorite was definitely Glam&Gore, she does amazing special effects makeup, and that is my favorite kind of make up! :)

The apps that I've downloaded recently and have been using this month are: SimCity and Pinterest!
SimCity is always fun for some good old relaxing and taking care of your whole city, and Pinterest is good for inspiration.
The Video Game that I have been addicted to this month was Kitty Powers' Matchmaker, which is a super cute game and very time consuming! Perfect for when you have nothing to do, or are just procrastinating! :)

My favorite moment/thing that happened this month was definitely meeting Laura Osnes, after all she is one of my favorite broadway actresses! :)

What were you're favorites of the month?

A Day in New York

HELLO!

As you've seen from yesterday's post, I went to NYC on memorial day. I mainly went there just to explore a bit, take some cool pictures, and go to Shmakary's for the Broadway Bakes, and get to see Laura Osnes! :)

I took the best way to go to NYC, in my opinion, which is taking the Staten Island Ferry that calls for amazing pictures and a super pretty view! You hop off the Ferry and you are by Battery (I was obviously singing: THE BRONX IS UP BUT THE BATTERY DOWN! #onthetownreference). Soho, which is my favorite area of NYC, isn't too far of a walk from where I was so I walked around there a bit, and went to my favorite store: Topshop! :)

After walking around Soho a bit, I took the subway to the Columbus Circle to have a late lunch at my favorite bakery, called Francois Payard Bakery. They have really good macarons, and my favorite sandwich type of thing that I had at Euro Disney. :) After relaxing a bit in FBP, I walked toward Times Square, which isn't a long walk either (completely forgot to through Central Park for pictures  D: ).

And lastly, the thing that I had been waiting for the whole the day was about to happen! I would meet one of my favorite broadway actresses over at Schmakery's, which is like a bakery that specializes on cookies (which are amazing! Definitely a great to go when in NYC for the first time!). The bakery is having Broadway stars sell their cookies from the 25th to the 29th of May, for Broadway Bakes (Here's info of the schedules if you are close to NYC).

At Schamakery's I got a Schmores cookie, that was wonderful, but I was too tired already to take a picture of it (trust me, it was amazing!). Laura Osnes and Corey Cott were selling the cookies, and they were super sweet, singing happy birthday (which Laura sang an octave higher and I melted inside #musicaltheatrefreak) for the girls who were having their birthdays and taking selfies. I also bought Laura's cd, which she signed and all of the money went straight to Broadway Cares.

I then went back home, just as happy I always am after seeing a musical, and took pictures the way back to Staten Island, which the sun helped a lot! :)

What did you do on Memorial Day?
